Tyler Christopher, known for his roles in General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, has died at the age of 50.
Tyler Christopher, known for his roles in General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, including the beloved character Nikolas Cassadine, has sadly passed away at the age of 50. The sad news was shared by his longtime co-star Maurice Benard on Instagram. Benard mentioned that Tyler had a heart-related incident in his home earlier today. In the same post, Benard paid tribute to Christopher. General Hospital's executive producer, Frank Valentini, also shared a tribute to Tyler on Twitter. Our hearts go out to Tyler Christopher's family and friends during this difficult time.
On Instagram, Benard posted the following: "It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher. Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment. Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting."
"Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him," Benard wrote. "Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol. We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father."

Christopher first appeared on General Hospital as Nikolas Cassadine, Stefan Cassadine's nephew, in 1996. He stuck around on the popular soap opera for a long time, making a total of 1153 appearances. Christopher left and returned to the show a few times, and even though other actors took on the role of Nikolas, he remains a beloved favorite among the show's fans.
Besides General Hospital, Christopher also played Stefan DiMera on Days of Our Lives from 2001 to 2019, appearing in 160 episodes. He also worked on various TV projects, including Super Volcano, Megaquake, and the recently released Ice Storm.
