New God of War Spin-Off Possibly Revealed by End of 2023.
A recent report suggests that PlayStation and Santa Monica Studio are gearing up to announce additional content for God of War Ragnarok. Earlier this year, rumors began circulating about possible new content linked to the latest God of War game. Currently, PlayStation hasn't confirmed these rumors, but it seems that an official announcement might be on the way.
According to a report from Areajugones, a source related to PlayStation hinted that God of War Ragnarok DLC is indeed real and is expected to be revealed before 2023 ends. The exact timing of the announcement is unclear, but there's speculation that The Game Awards 2023 in early December could be a potential platform for the reveal. Additionally, the report suggests that this content might not be traditional DLC but could rather be a "medium-sized game" similar in scale to Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales by Insomniac Games.
In a general sense, it wouldn't be very surprising to see God of War Ragnarok get a spin-off for a few reasons. First, the way the story concludes in Ragnarok sets the scene for a new chapter in the series within the Norse world. Additionally, as mentioned, PlayStation has been more open in recent years to releasing shorter games connected to bigger series. Titles like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Infamous: First Light have been standalone games and gained popularity. Considering this trend, it would make sense for God of War to be the next series to receive similar support from PlayStation.
