Anime Expo is generating excitement with promises of major announcements for some of the biggest anime franchises, and now, Kaiju No. 8 has some exciting news of its own. Regarded as one of the highly anticipated shonen series that has yet to receive an anime adaptation, the series has been officially confirmed for release in 2024. With the recent buzz from this year's Anime Expo, fans are eager to see if the story of Kafka will be able to establish itself alongside shonen anime giants such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and more.


Around six months ago, Kaiju No. 8 unveiled its first trailer, revealing that the renowned animation studio Production I.G. would be spearheading the creation of this thrilling monster-fighting anime franchise. Production I.G. boasts an impressive repertoire, including notable works like Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Psycho-Pass, and Haikyu, among others. Recently, they showcased their expertise in bringing awe-inspiring creatures to life through Heavenly Delusion, an anime series that captivated viewers with mind-bending monstrosities.

For those who have yet to delve into the manga, the official description of Kaiju No. 8 from Viz Media reads as follows: "Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she's out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There's just one problem—he's made the Defense Force's neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8."
