New Pluto Trailer Released

Anime Expo remains one of the most prominent events in the North American anime convention circuit, drawing in a multitude of avid fans. This year's convention brought exciting news for enthusiasts, as it unveiled a release date and a captivating trailer for the highly anticipated anime adaptation of Pluto. Created by the revered artist Naoki Urasawa, this series offers a dark and intriguing perspective on the beloved classic, Astro Boy.

The forthcoming Pluto anime adaptation is scheduled to debut on Netflix later this year, generating immense excitement among fans. The narrative explores a society characterized by advanced technology, harboring a hidden underworld. Anticipation is heightened due to the esteemed reputation of Naoki Urasawa, renowned for his masterful works such as 20th Century Boys and Monster, among others. Pluto's manga was initially published in 2003 and concluded in 2009 after eight volumes. Given the rich source material, it remains to be seen if the entire story of Pluto can be encompassed within a single season or if additional seasons will be required to do it justice.

Pluto Trailer

Pluto is set to make its debut on Netflix on October 26, 2023. Fans can eagerly anticipate the release while enjoying the new trailer, available on Netflix's platform, which offers a captivating glimpse into the intricately crafted, technologically advanced world of the series.

For those who have yet to delve into the original manga of Pluto in anticipation of the anime, here is the official description of the series, "In an ideal world where man and robots coexist, someone or something has destroyed the powerful Swiss robot Mont Blanc. Elsewhere a key figure in a robot rights group is murdered. The two incidents appear to be unrelated...except for one very conspicuous clue – the bodies of both victims have been fashioned into some sort of bizarre collage complete with makeshift horns placed by the victims' heads. Interpol assigns robot detective Gesicht to this most strange and complex case – and he eventually discovers that he too, as one of the seven great robots of the world, is one of the targets."

Although Naoki Urasawa's Monster received a legendary anime adaptation, some of his other notable manga series like 20th Century Boys are still awaiting the same treatment. However, if Pluto's anime proves to be a success on Netflix, it could potentially pave the way for more of Urasawa's prolific works to be adapted into anime series.
