In Winter 2024, a new anime movie for Puella Magi Madoka Magica called "Walpurgis no Kaiten" has a fresh trailer with a "1.1" label. This trailer has less content compared to the one released in September, but it ends with a new shot of the character Madoka.
The original Puella Magi Madoka Magica TV series came out in 2011 and later had two recap movies along with a sequel movie called "Rebellion" in 2013. The series also inspired manga, novels, and games. "Walpurgis no Kaiten" is set to continue the story after the events of "Rebellion," where Homura Akemi, a magical girl, trapped the main character, Madoka Kanae, in her own created reality. Additionally, the Magia Record game, released in Japan in 2017, got its own anime adaptation. It began with a first season in 2020 and concluded with a short four-episode "final season" in April 2022.
Crunchyroll describes the 2011 anime as: "She has a loving family and best friends, laughs and cries from time to time… Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader of Mitakihara middle school, is one of those who lives such a life. One day, she had a very magical encounter. She doesn’t know if it happened by chance or by fate yet. This is a fateful encounter that can change her destiny- This is a beginning of the new story of the magical witch girls."
