One Piece Anime Debuts 25th Opening Theme Song

You can watch the new opening on the official YouTube channel of the hugely popular pirate anime. It showcases important scenes from the "Wano Country" arc, offering a sneak peek into Monkey D. Luffy's epic battle with Kaido of the Beasts. In the video, you'll see Gear 5 in action several times. The song accompanying these visuals is fittingly named "The Peak" and is performed by the Japanese pop band Sekai no Owari.

Eiichiro Oda started sharing his One Piece manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump back in 1997. It has since become the most successful manga ever, with almost 517 million copies circulated globally. Now, the first 12 volumes of One Piece can be enjoyed online for free. The story revolves around Luffy, a young pirate captain with a rubbery body, as he embarks on adventures with his diverse crew in pursuit of the legendary hidden treasure. Oda confirmed that the series entered its final major saga with the "Egghead" arc and expressed a desire to have fun concluding the story, saying, "I think I've reached a point where I can do whatever I want."

Toei Animation's anime adaptation of Oda's beloved creation premiered its initial episode in October 1999. The anime has also achieved remarkable success, generating over 146.5 billion yen (about $1.47 billion) in revenue as of 2020. Notably, it won the Best Continuing Series category at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

One Piece enthusiasts have more to anticipate than just a new anime opening theme. Netflix's live-action adaptation of the series debuted at the end of August and has garnered positive reviews from critics. Oda himself commended the cast, likening the experience to seeing the Straw Hats in real life and encouraging fans to savor it.

Furthermore, numerous new collectibles for the franchise have hit the market, offering fans fresh opportunities to invest in their beloved series. For instance, MegaHouse released a Gear 5 statue capturing Luffy's transformation into Joy Boy, and Jimei Palace unveiled an intricate and pricey recreation of Sir Crocodile.

You can catch the One Piece anime on Crunchyroll.
