John Cena Hints at Upcoming WWE Retirement and Last Match, Says Peacemaker Star.
After becoming a top WWE star for many years, John Cena has been spending more time on his acting career lately. He hasn't been on WWE TV as much recently, but he's not finished yet. He recently hosted WWE's Payback event and is expected to stick around on SmackDown through September and October. However, in an interview with WWE Digital after Payback, Cena hinted that he knows his WWE career is coming to an end.
“Every single chance I get to go out there becomes more and more special. There is no denying the fact that I’m 46 and staring down 47. I’ve been here for over two decades. As I said out there in the ring, the last one is not tonight, but I know it’s soon. To speak candidly, when you’re involved in this every day in a full-time capacity, you just think about what’s next.”
The wrestler added, “The WWE Universe being gracious to invite me and allow me back to be part of this family, for the last two or three years, I’ve been able to focus on what’s now. I never miss any of those wonderful moments in the ring. I know it may sound repetitive, but so is me saying ‘Never give up,’ and I never mind saying that, so I never mind saying ‘thank you’ to the people that make this special. Without them and them caring, I don’t get to come back.”
John Cena's Hollywood Career
John Cena has been appearing less in WWE because he's been busy with his acting career. He recently voiced the bad guy Rocksteady in the animated movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which you can now watch online. He's also in the super popular movie Barbie, which just made the most money in 2023 (and broke lots of other records too). Plus, Cena's comedy sequel Vacation Friends 2 is now on Hulu.
But you can still see Cena on WWE SmackDown every Friday night.
