Yellowjackets' Teen and Adult Casts Go Head-to-Head on Family Feud

The timelines of Yellowjackets are converging, at least in the realm of Celebrity Family Feud. On Sunday, July 9th, the "teen" and adult cast members from the popular Showtime series will clash in a charity competition for the Season 9 premiere of the game show. The episode will be broadcasted on ABC at 9 p.m. ET and will be available for streaming on Monday.

The episode will feature an exciting face-off between Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Warren Kole, Tawney Cypress, and Lauren Ambrose, who will go head-to-head against Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Nelisse, Courtney Eaton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Kevin Alves. Both teams will compete to raise funds for GLAAD. Additionally, Gayle King and Sophia Bush will engage in a friendly battle, with King's team playing for Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, while Bush supports the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan.

A Bonus Episode of Yellowjackets is Coming

Following the conclusion of its second season in May, Yellowjackets has delighted fans with the news that they won't have to wait until Season 3 for more of the series. In a recent Twitter post, Ashley Lyle, co-creator of the show, revealed that a bonus episode is in the works, presumably set between Season 2 and Season 3, although the exact release date remains unclear.

"Noooo. Go to bed! Get some rest!" Lyle playfully responded to a fan's inquiry. "There will be a bonus episode between seasons, but I care about you all and don't want anyone losing sleep thinking it's tonight."

Season 3 of Yellowjackets is Coming

Yellowjackets experienced unprecedented success even before Season 2 premiered, leading to the show's early renewal for a third season by Showtime. The series consistently broke viewership records, prompting the decision to capitalize on its momentum and fast-track Season 3. However, the ongoing WGA strike has currently caused a delay in the production of the upcoming season.

"Given the incredible reception of Yellowjackets in Season 1 and the immense anticipation surrounding Season 2, we wanted to harness that momentum by greenlighting Season 3 in advance," stated Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks, last year. "The show's ambition is matched only by its impeccable execution, and I extend my gratitude to the exceptional creative team, including Ashley, Bart, Jonathan, eOne, and the Showtime team, for transforming it into such a resounding success."

What is Yellowjackets Season 2 about?

Yellowjackets commences in 1996 as a group of high school soccer players from New Jersey embarks on a journey to Seattle for a national tournament. However, tragedy strikes when their plane crashes deep in the Canadian wilderness, leaving the remaining team members to endure for a harrowing nineteen months. The series intertwines their struggle for survival with glimpses into their lives in the 2020s.

"Can we expect things to get even stranger? Most likely!" Lyle previously remarked regarding the show's future. "Will the repercussions of redacted's death profoundly impact our (anti)heroes? Will our girls' battle against the elements (and themselves) grow even more intense and gritty? Do we still have to delve into the story of Pit Girl? Absolutely! In short, creating a show is an unpredictable journey. It can be exhilarating and sometimes heart-wrenching. As a dedicated TV viewer myself, I understand that being a fan is strangely similar. We are immensely grateful to everyone who invested their valuable time in our series. If it brought you joy, laughter, reflection, tears, or simply provided an escape from reality, it makes all the madness feel worthwhile. All we can do is share the story we felt compelled to tell. Here's to Season 3, hive. BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ."
