Gone are the days when WWE would unveil its entire lineup of premium live events in one go. Presently, WWE opts to announce dates and locations for upcoming shows individually, often waiting until a few months before the event's scheduled date. With the year already in its latter half, WWE is gearing up to finalize its remaining events, including the last of the "big five."
According to a recent press release, WWE Survivor Series is set to make its return this autumn. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 25th, at Chicago's Allstate Arena. This venue is no stranger to the multi-man tag-based extravaganza, as WWE previously held a WWE Survivor Series there in 2019.
In addition, WWE will be maximizing the use of the Allstate Arena by hosting an episode of WWE SmackDown at the venue the night before. This follows a similar strategy employed by WWE for earlier premium live events this year, such as WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico and WWE Money in the Bank in London.
Notably absent from the announcement is any mention of War Games. In the previous year, WWE incorporated the War Games stipulation into WWE Survivor Series, even using the name in the show's subtitle.
During the WWE Survivor Series 2022 press conference, Paul "Triple H" Levesque, WWE Chief Content Officer, responded to a question from Liam Crowley of ComicBook.com. When asked about the possibility of War Games becoming a standalone event rather than being tied exclusively to WWE Survivor Series, Triple H acknowledged that it's a topic they contemplate regularly.
"It's a topic that remains open for discussion. We constantly consider it," Triple H remarked regarding stipulation matches receiving their own dedicated premium live events. "No one is going to challenge someone and say, 'That's it, I'm fed up with you, I challenge you to an Elimination Chamber match with five other guys.' It doesn't work that way, right? Similarly, 'That's enough, I challenge you to Money in the Bank.' There's a distinction there. We need to reassess everything. We need to examine the overall calendar and determine the best placement for these matches. What's the best way to entertain our fans? What makes the most logical sequence?"
WWE Survivor Series is scheduled for November 25th.
