The Witcher's Dijkstra & Philippa Reveal How Geralt and Ciri Affect Their Plans in Season 3

Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, and Jaskier take center stage in Season 3 of The Witcher, but characters like Dijkstra, Philippa, and Radovid continue to exert significant influence throughout the season. In particular, Dijkstra and Philippa showcase their deadly and cunning nature in this season. ComicBook.com recently had the opportunity to interview Cassie Clare (Philippa) and Graham McTavish (Dijkstra) regarding their characters' intentions. Philippa and Dijkstra manipulate and impact nearly every aspect within and beyond the kingdom. As for Geralt and his group of allies, the duo has devised plans that involve them, provided they are willing to cooperate.

"Yeah. Well, Dijkstra is trying to further his super objective regarding Redania, and trying to recruit Geralt into that plan. And he believes, I think, that Philippa is very much aligned with that, that we are on parallel tracks. But I think he starts to think perhaps that she has a slightly different agenda," McTavish said. "That's really the most I can say about her. It's like that in any relationship where you think you understand the dynamic, and then there's a moment where something happens where you have to reassess. You go, Oh, right. Okay."

"So they're both very smart people, and I think when you've got two people who are that smart together, it's very tiring, actually. It's very tiring. Because it's fine to be the smart one in the relationship or the not-so-smart one, but if you're both working at that high level, it can be exhausting," McTavish said. Clare said, "It's challenging."

"So I think he's tired a lot of the time, Dijkstra, to be honest. He's always needing a lie-down. Never gets one," McTavish said. Regarding Philippa, she has executed a long-term strategy that surpasses the comprehension of others, and in Season 3, her intricate plan begins to unfold and take effect.

"I would say that when you mention the super objective, Philippa has harbored a plan that has been set in motion long before we encounter her. It gradually simmers in Season Two, perhaps with the presence of a perceptive owl gathering information. However, it has been in progress for a considerable time even prior to that. It's gratifying to enter Season Three and witness the characters start to provoke reactions and instigate change. They are executing actions that they have likely orchestrated together, working towards a joint super objective. As for Philippa's personal objective, I won't divulge any further details."

The Witcher Season 3 is divided into two chapters. Chapter 1, comprising episodes 1 through 5, is currently available for streaming on Netflix. On the other hand, Chapter 2, consisting of episodes 6 through 8, is set to be released on Netflix on July 27th.
