Daryl Dixon Gets Branded by Nuns in New Walking Dead Spinoff Footage

Norman Reedus recently offered a glimpse into the upcoming Walking Dead spin-off featuring his character, Daryl Dixon. However, contrary to the eerie teaser that hinted at nuns wielding pokers and burning Daryl in a French castle, Reedus did not reveal this particular aspect. In a separate teaser, Daryl was shown washing ashore in post-apocalyptic Marseille, France, and potentially exploring the Primrose lab from The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Another teaser aired during Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City, raising further questions as it depicted Daryl being branded by nuns.

The footage showcased a different tone, visual style, and lighting from the previous series. Reedus shared with ComicBook that the storyline has a religious undertone and involves him interacting with French-speaking individuals. His character is caught in the midst of unraveling the situation, wondering if it will lead to conflict.

According to AMC's logline, the spin-off follows Daryl's journey across a shattered yet resilient France as he seeks to uncover the truth behind his arrival and find a way back home. Along the way, the connections he forms complicate his initial plan. Among the new characters he encounters are Isabelle, played by Clémence Poésy, a member of a progressive religious group in Paris confronting her troubled past, and Quinn, portrayed by Adam Nagaitis, a displaced British individual who operates an underground nightclub in the city. Additional survivors introduced on the series include Genet (Anne Charrier), Sylvie (Laika Blanc Francard), Fallou (Eriq Ebouaney), Codron (Romain Levi), and Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi).

Following the release of the first trailer and poster last week, the latest footage for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon continues to build anticipation for the upcoming series. In the clip, Daryl is seen speaking into a walkie-talkie, introducing himself by saying, "I'm Daryl Dixon. I come from a place called the Commonwealth in America. I set out on a search, but all I found was trouble. If I don't make it back, I want them to know that I gave it my all. Hell, I'm still giving it my all."

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2023 on both AMC and AMC+.
