Kairi Sane, a former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion, has apparently returned to WWE.

Former WWE Champion Comes Back to WWE

Since Triple H took charge of creative decisions in WWE, there have been a few wrestlers making comebacks. Some rumors suggest that one such return might be just around the corner. According to WrestleVotes, Kairi Sane, a former NXT Women's Champion and WWE Women's Tag Team Champion, has been added back to WWE's internal talent roster. The report indicates that her return is on the horizon, though it's unclear whether she will be a part of Monday Night Raw or SmackDown. Kairi's return has been talked about for a while, but it looks like she'll be making her WWE comeback sooner rather than later.

On Twitter, WrestleVotes wrote, "After what feels like months of speculation, I'm told Kairi Sane has reappeared on the internal talent roster. Her return to the company is imminent." You can find the full post below.

In a follow-up tweet, WrestleVotes mentioned that Kairi Sane is now listed in the miscellaneous section of the internal roster as of this morning. They stated, "As of this morning Kairi Sane is listed under the MISC section of the internal company roster. For complete transparency, the MISC section currently reads as Stephanie McMahon, HHH, Undertaker, Austin, Tyler Breeze & Titus O'Neil. There are 18 names total across 3 columns. The 18th name is Kairi Sane."

Sane would work her way up in WWE NXT and finally beat Shayna Baszler to become NXT Women's Champion at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. She'd be the champ for 71 days before Baszler took the title back at Evolution in 2018.

Sane would become a regular member of the main roster and team up with Asuka to create the Kabuki Warriors. They would become strong together and beat Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross at Hell in a Cell to become the new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. They defended their title successfully four times in 181 days. However, they later lost it to Bliss and Cross at WrestleMania 36.

The Kabuki Warriors had their last match together in July 2020 on Raw, where they lost to Sasha Banks and Bayley, giving up the Women's Tag Team Championships. The following week, Sane had her final WWE match, and then she started working as a WWE ambassador before returning to Japan.

Sane left her role as an ambassador in late 2020 and made a comeback to Stardom in 2022, going by just the name Kairi. She got injured for a while but later returned to wrestling in the same year and continued with Stardom through 2022. In November, she beat Mayu Iwatani to become the first-ever IWGP Women's Champion and defended her title against Tam Nagano at Wrestle Kingdom 17.

In a surprising turn of events, Kairi found herself facing a newcomer, Mercedes Mone (also known as Sasha Banks), who had recently joined New Japan Pro-Wrestling after leaving WWE. Kairi and Mone squared off in a match at Battle in the Valley, and to everyone's surprise, Mone emerged victorious, becoming the new IWGP Women's Champion. Kairi's championship reign lasted for 90 days.
