Progress Made on New Max Payne Games at Remedy

Remedy is all set to start making the remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2.

The company behind games like Alan Wake, Remedy Entertainment, has given an update on the new versions of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. More than a year ago, Remedy shared news about teaming up with Rockstar Games to redo the first two Max Payne games from the early 2000s. Since then, Remedy has often updated everyone on how things are going, hinting that the remakes might take a while. With Alan Wake 2 out now, it seems that the Max Payne remakes will be the next big project for Remedy.

In a new message to investors, Remedy said that it's ready to start making the Max Payne 1&2 Remake. Before, the project was only in the planning stage, where the developers were just figuring out what they wanted to do. Now that production is starting, it means the remakes will begin to take shape and get closer to actually coming out.

"Max Payne 1&2 Remake progressed into the production readiness stage. We have gained clarity on the style and scope of the game, and we have an exceptionally well-organized team working on it," said Remedy's CEO Tero Virtala of where the project is currently. "With these accomplishments, we are excited about the project and its future success. [...] Now that Alan Wake 2 has been launched, the sight is set on advancing our other game projects. All these four projects will benefit from the additional talent transferring from Alan Wake 2 as it will enable the teams to take the necessary steps towards the next stages of development."

Remedy, the company behind Max Payne 1&2 Remake, is also busy with a sequel to their 2019 game, Control. Right now, Control 2 is still in the early stages, so it won't be coming out anytime soon. With Alan Wake 2 now out, it looks like Max Payne 1&2 Remake might be the next game we'll see from Remedy. However, there's no specific release date for these new versions of the first two Max Payne games. Remedy is also planning to release two expansion packs for Alan Wake 2 in 2024.
