Invincible Season 2 is back and it's got some of its greatest episodes yet.
Invincible is back for its second season, and it's as good as ever. After Season 1 came out in 2021, it became so popular that Prime Video decided to make two more seasons. It took a while for the new season to come out, but the wait has been worth it.
Instead of releasing all eight episodes of Season 2 at once, Prime Video is splitting it into two parts. Part 1, with the first four episodes, will be available in early November, and the other four will come out in early 2024. I've watched the first four episodes of Season 2, and I'm still happy with how the show is following the comic book it's based on.
That being said, Episodes 1 and 2 of the new season of Invincible start a bit slowly. Season 2 takes its time to develop the main characters and introduces some new ones. This might make it a bit challenging if you're eager to see what happens next after the exciting Season 1 finale.
But don't worry, Episodes 3 and 4 pick up the pace and bring some really exciting moments. They are among the best episodes of the entire series. There are lots of surprising twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat, even if you're not familiar with the original story. Even if you've read the comics, the show's adaptation is impressive.
Invincible Season 2 has a lot of different characters and storylines, but it manages to handle them all without getting overwhelmed or feeling too complex.
In the new episodes of Invincible, one thing you can't miss is the improved quality. The animation has gotten much better, making the characters and backgrounds look more vibrant and exciting. The show always had lots of colors, but now it's even more impressive, especially during the action scenes. Plus, they've added more well-known songs to the series, which I really enjoy. For example, in Episode 1, there's a scene where Invincible is flying around with Radiohead's "Karma Police" playing in the background. It's a simple scene, but it's easily one of my favorites in all of Season 2 so far.
While Invincible Season 2 has its serious moments, it also brings plenty of humor. The writing continues to impress, delivering moments that will make fans laugh. One particular joke related to the show's title card is a standout in Season 2, among other moments that had me genuinely chuckling.
There's one potential issue some viewers might have with Invincible Season 2, and that's the introduction of the multiverse concept. Like many other recent shows and movies, Invincible starts to explore its own version of the multiverse, mainly through the character Aangstrom Levy. So far, it doesn't seem too confusing or overwhelming, and it's mostly centered around a single episode. However, some people might be getting tired of the whole multiverse idea, and I worry that Invincible might struggle to make its take on this storyline stand out as the season progresses.
The first four episodes of Invincible Season 2 only give us a taste of what's to come in the series. The biggest issue for me is the wait between Episode 4 and Episode 5; I would have preferred if they all came out at once. But even with that, Invincible is still one of the best superhero shows out there, and it's sure to make fans who've been eagerly waiting happy when it returns.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
The second season of "Invincible" is coming to Prime Video on November 3, 2023. You can catch new episodes every week, but there will be a break after the fourth episode. The show will return for the second part of Season 2 in 2024, but we don't know the exact date yet.
