In 2009, Kimi ni Todoke captured the hearts of many with the touching love story of Sawako "Sadako" Kuronuma and Shota Kazehaya. According to Anime News Network, the respected animation studio has recently shared news about Season 3, including a new poster featuring the two main characters. While we're still waiting for more details about the staff and cast, we do know that Mamiko Noto and Daisuke Namikawa will return to voice Kuronuma and Kazehaya, respectively. It's also worth noting that Netflix holds exclusive streaming rights for the series, available to viewers in and outside Japan.
Karuho Shiina's Kimi ni Todoke manga series began its journey in Bessatsu Margaret in December 2005 and ran until its conclusion in December 2015. The story revolves around Sawako, a high school student who earns the nickname "Sadako" due to her resemblance to the character from The Ring. Despite her intimidating appearance, Sawako is a kind and gentle soul who yearns for connections with others. Her life takes a significant turn when she crosses paths with Shota, a popular classmate who is drawn to her. As they spend more time together, their feelings for each other deepen.

Following its manga debut, Kimi ni Todoke gained immense popularity and became one of the best-selling shojo manga series, with over 36 million copies sold worldwide. Its heartfelt portrayal of high school romance earned it the Best Shoujo Manga Award at Kodansha's 32nd Annual Manga Awards in 2008. The first two seasons of Production I.G.'s beloved anime adaptation aired from October 2009 to March 2011. Hiro Kaburagi directed the series, while Tomoko Konparu handled the series composition. They collaborated with Mamiko Ikeda (known for Fruits Basket 2001) and Norihiro Naganuma (from Yowamushi Pedal) to craft the scripts.
Kimi ni Todoke's success led to various other adaptations, including light novels by Japanese authors Kanae Shimokawa and Kanako Shirai. In 2010, a live-action film adaptation was produced by Nippon Television, Nikkatsu, and Django Film, starring Mikako Tabe and Haruma Miura as Kuronuma and Kazehaya. Earlier this year, a live-action drama series also debuted, featuring Sara Minami and Oji Suzuka in the roles of Kuronuma and Kazehaya.
