The Showrunner of "The Last of Us" is Working on a Reboot of "Pirates of the Caribbean."
The Last of Us showrunner and writer Craig Mazin confirms that Disney greenlit his pitch for a Pirates of the Caribbean reboot
Craig Mazin, the acclaimed creative behind HBO's compelling series like Chernobyl and The Last of Us, has unveiled his involvement in an exciting new project: a fresh installment in the beloved Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. According to The LA Times, the accomplished writer and producer recently confirmed that Disney had given the green light to a reboot of the iconic seafaring series just before the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists strikes occurred. "When we presented our pitch, we thought it was too outlandish to be accepted, but to our surprise, they embraced it!" Mazin exclaimed. "Ted Elliot then crafted an outstanding script, and everyone was eagerly anticipating its production until the strike disrupted our plans."

Despite this, Bruckheimer has also expressed his determination to bring Depp back into the lead role of Jack Sparrow. "We're still actively working on it. Nothing is set in stone yet, but we are steadily progressing toward developing a screenplay," he affirmed. However, when it comes to the actor himself, Depp stated during his 2022 defamation lawsuit against Heard that he had no desire to reprise his iconic role as the captain of the Black Pearl.
