WWE's Becky Lynch Sports X-Men-Inspired Siryn Costume at Money in the Bank

At WWE's highly anticipated live event, Money in the Bank, WWE superstar Becky Lynch made a striking entrance by donning an impressive Siryn-inspired costume from the X-Men.

As reported by Twitter user Joshua Allen, the former Raw and SmackDown Women's World Champion made her way to the ring at the 2023 WWE PLE (Premium Live Event) clad in a skin-tight cosplay that perfectly mirrored the iconic look of the Marvel superhero. Lynch's attire beautifully replicated the vibrant green and yellow spandex ensemble straight from the pages of the X-Men comics. While the costume captured the essence of Siryn, Lynch opted not to incorporate the character's signature wings. Despite her eye-catching appearance, Lynch ultimately fell short in the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match, which was won by Iyo Sky.

Debuting in the pages of Spider-Woman #37 (April 1981), Siryn, also known as Theresa Maeve Rourke Cassidy, was brought to life by writer Chris Claremont and artist Steve Leialoha within the Marvel Comics universe. As the daughter of the X-Men superhero Sean Cassidy, also known as Banshee, Siryn's childhood was marked by her father's abandonment after her mother tragically lost her life in an IRA bombing. Raised under the guidance of her cousin Black Tom, Siryn was molded into a life of crime. Initially serving as a supervillain and adversary to the original Spider-Woman, Siryn eventually breaks free from her cousin's influence and reunites with Banshee, thanks to the intervention of the X-Men. Subsequently, she becomes a member of X-Force, where she forms an unlikely romantic connection with Wade Wilson, better known as Deadpool.

Becky Lynch Rose From the Independent Circuit to WWE

Rebecca Quin, known by her ring name Becky Lynch, developed a passion for professional wrestling during her teenage years and began making a name for herself in the independent circuit. In 2013, Lynch signed a developmental contract with WWE, leading to her placement on the NXT roster. As part of the Women's Revolution movement within the company, Lynch, along with Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks, was later promoted to the main WWE roster in 2015.

While Lynch garnered early popularity through her feuds with notable opponents such as Flair, Alexa Bliss, and the Bella Twins, it was not until 2018 that she emerged as the face of the women's division within WWE. During a winning streak, Lynch's trajectory took an unexpected turn when she lost a title match to Flair and called out the Women's Champion for receiving unwarranted opportunities. This unintentional shift in character resonated with fans, who rallied behind Lynch, affectionately referring to her as "The Man." Overcoming injuries and formidable opponents like Asuka, Lynch made history as the first dual women's champion, culminating in the groundbreaking women's main event at Wrestlemania 35.

Beyond her Siryn cosplay, Lynch's connection to Marvel extends further. In a tribute to Lynch, comic writer Jason Aaron incorporated her likeness into the interior art of Heroes Reborn #6, drawing parallels between her and Power Princess. Additionally, reports in 2020 suggested that Lynch was being considered for an undisclosed role in a Marvel Studios project.

Viewers can catch Becky Lynch on WWE Raw every Monday night at 8 pm on the USA Network.
