The Witcher Star Says Liam Hemsworth Is Doing "Insane" Training to Play Geralt

Season 4 of Netflix's The Witcher is gearing up for a significant change as Liam Hemsworth is set to assume the role of Geralt of Rivia, taking over from Henry Cavill. When this news initially broke last year, fans were largely skeptical about the recasting, given Cavill's excellent portrayal of Geralt. However, despite the initial concerns, it seems that Hemsworth is fully committed to the role and has been immersing himself in the world of The Witcher to ensure a worthy performance.

In a conversation with Games Radar+, Joey Batey, who portrays Jaskier in the show, revealed that he has had some contact with Hemsworth. Batey mentioned that he hasn't provided Hemsworth with any specific tips on how to approach playing Geralt, but he did note that the new lead actor has been diligently training for the role. Additionally, Batey shared that Hemsworth has been delving into the Witcher book series and has discussed some of his favorite moments from the novels with Batey.

"I've been in contact with him. We've been emailing, we've been exchanging our favorite quotes from the books and things like that," Batey said of his current interactions with Hemsworth. "I don't think any of us are in the position to advise on playing Geralt but he's throwing himself into it. His training regime is insane and he's been devouring the books."

Anya Chalotra, known for her role as Yennefer in The Witcher, mentioned that she has also had brief communication with Hemsworth and extended a message of support to him. However, most of the cast members have yet to meet Hemsworth in person and will likely have the opportunity to do so once filming commences for Season 4. It is evident that the cast of The Witcher stands behind Hemsworth, and with time, hopefully, he can win over the hesitant fans as well with his portrayal of Geralt.

At the moment, it remains uncertain when we will get our first glimpse of Hemsworth as Geralt since production for Season 4 of The Witcher has not yet begun. As for Season 3, it is scheduled to premiere on Netflix tomorrow, June 29, with the release of its initial five episodes. The final three episodes of Season 3 are set to be unveiled next month on July 27.
