Riverdale star Mädchen Amick recently shared some intriguing details about the upcoming seventh and final season of the beloved drama series. During an interview with Decider, Amick, who plays Betty Cooper's mother Alice, disclosed that the entire seventh season will be set in the 1950s. "No, we won't be leaving the 1950s. So I suppose that might be considered a significant spoiler," Amick revealed. "However, I can say that you will see the characters in different dimensions and experience a lot of closure outside of the 1950s. I'll tease it that way, and I believe it's enough information."
The highly anticipated seventh season of Riverdale premiered on March 29, 2023, and continues the story after the dramatic Season 6 finale. In that finale, Cheryl Blossom successfully averted the threat posed by Bailey's Comet, but as a consequence, Archie and his friends were unexpectedly transported back to 1955. Once again assuming their roles as high school students, they find themselves devoid of any recollection of the previous timeline. This shift to the 1950s has allowed the show to resurrect characters like Midge Klump, Hiram Lodge, and Hal Cooper, as well as recast others such as Dilton Doiley.
Hiram Lodge Returns to Riverdale
Despite meeting his demise in Season 6, Mark Consuelos, who portrays Hiram Lodge, made a surprising return in the recent Riverdale Season 7 episode titled "Chapter One Thirty: The Crucible." In an exclusive interview with CBR, Consuelos shed light on how his comeback to the show transpired. "It was as simple as Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] picking up the phone and asking, 'Hey, would you be interested in...'" Consuelos shared. "Before he could even finish his sentence, I immediately replied, 'Of course. Yes.' It was that straightforward."
He went on to say, "I know I had my farewell a few seasons ago. However, as the seasons progressed, I had the chance to record a couple of phone calls. In Season 6, when Hiram was being pursued by hitmen and met his demise, I understood that on Riverdale, death only means one thing: you will undoubtedly make a comeback. I always held onto that hope, and it eventually paid off when I received that phone call. I absolutely loved the new multiverse/flashforward/flashback into the '50s version of Riverdale in the past season. Coming back was a moment of elation for me."
Riverdale made its debut on The CW in January 2017 and has captivated audiences with its compelling storylines across seven seasons, totaling 131 episodes. The beloved CW series boasts an impressive ensemble cast, with KJ Apa leading the pack as Archie Andrews, alongside Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Charles Melton as Reggie Mantle, Vanessa Morgan as Toni Topaz, Drew Ray Tanner as Fangs Fogarty, Mädchen Amick as Alice Cooper, and Erinn Westbrook as Tabitha Tate.
As Riverdale approaches its final season, fans eagerly anticipate the fifteenth episode, titled "Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Two: Miss Teen Riverdale," which is set to air on The CW on July 19.
