LEGO and Nintendo have enjoyed a fruitful collaboration in recent years, particularly with sets inspired by the Mario franchise. This summer, the partnership will see the release of a new expansion set centered around two Koopalings. The set, named "Larry's and Morton's Airships," features two Airships accompanied by figures of Larry, Morton, and a Goomba. With a total of 1,062 pieces, the build is slated for release on August 1st, with a price tag of $79.99. As the name suggests, the set showcases a pair of Airships designed to resemble their respective Koopalings.

The Koopalings made their debut in the classic game Super Mario Bros. 3, which was released in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Since then, these seven siblings have become recurring antagonists in the Mario series. They have appeared in various games, including Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. U, where they served as bosses in each world. The Koopalings have also made appearances as playable racers in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Previously, they were portrayed as Bowser's children, particularly in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 animated series. However, Nintendo later retconned their relationship, and the Koopalings are now depicted as minions of Bowser, with Bowser Jr. being portrayed as his only child.
Aside from the upcoming Koopalings set, Nintendo fans can also look forward to other LEGO releases this summer. In April, LEGO unveiled a series of sets based on the Donkey Kong franchise. These sets, scheduled to launch on August 1st, feature characters and designs inspired by the Donkey Kong Country series. This marks the first time LEGO figures have been created for characters like Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, and more.
