However, opinions among fans about Season 6, particularly the "Beyond the Sea" episode, have been mixed. Nonetheless, the series continues to be a resounding success for Netflix. According to Nielsen, Black Mirror Season 6 debuted at the top spot with over 1.356 billion minutes viewed, further solidifying its popularity.

Black Mirror Season 6 Star Almost Appeared in Previous Season

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paul disclosed that he was initially intended to make an appearance in the USS Callister episode of the previous season of Black Mirror.

"The entertainment industry is fascinating, to say the least. However, once you get to know Charlie, you realize the weight of his words," Paul shared during the THR interview. "He was genuinely enthusiastic when I expressed my interest in being a part of USS Callister as a subtle nod to any Breaking Bad fans—a little Easter egg. Charlie has always been aware of my immense admiration for Black Mirror since its inception in the UK, and I made it clear that it would be a dream come true to be a part of the universe he has created. So, I was thrilled that we were able to make it happen. We attempted to coordinate last season, but unfortunately, scheduling conflicts arose. Nonetheless, I'm grateful that he kept me in mind."

"Oh, absolutely. This episode, Beyond the Sea, was an absolute dream come true. The moment I received the phone call about the offer, I promptly opened the script on my phone and devoured the entire episode in just over an hour. I absorbed it all and was elated that Charlie considered me for such a complex character," Paul added when discussing the Black Mirror episode in which he appears this season.

What is Black Mirror About?

Netflix characterizes Black Mirror as follows: "The show looks inwards, at the darker aspects of humanity and society. This is done through the theme of technology, hence the second meaning. The black mirror is the screen that rules our lives. Taking contemporary phenomena (ranging from the wild popularity of talent shows on TV to the impact of social media and smartphones on our lives) as a starting point and speculate how such phenomena could/would evolve in the future. Each episode tells a different story with different protagonists and focuses on a different theme."

Season 6 of Black Mirror is now available for exclusive streaming on Netflix.
