Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Is Already Getting Censored

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is back, and the anime wasted no time in diving into season two. Rudeus is preparing for more adventures, and fans were eagerly anticipating the return of their beloved hero. However, there was one aspect of the season two premiere that left the fandom disappointed. It appears that the anime's debut episode faced some censorship, and the fans have voiced their opinions about this matter.

For those who may not be up to date, Mushoku Tensei made its highly anticipated return to television this month, and season two started off with a lively pace. We were reintroduced to the anime's key characters, including Rudeus. At a certain point, the story shifted its focus to Darius Ganius, and the morally questionable character found himself in an awkward situation.

In the anime, Mushoku Tensei season 2 shows Darius holding a young girl who is scantily clad, and he is seen stroking her back. The young girl is obviously uncomfortable, and the censored scene is enough to give anyone the creeps. However, in the unedited episode, things are made much worse. The original footage shows Darius touching the girl inappropriately, and he is much more handsy in the cut.

This unfiltered footage was exclusively shown to fans in Japan who subscribed to uncensored platforms, but for many viewers, the edited episode was the one that appeared on their screens. Consequently, the censored scene was the version shared with streaming platforms outside of Asia. Although certain platforms in Asia managed to obtain the original footage, sites like Crunchyroll were only provided with the censored version.

As one can imagine, this discrepancy in censorship sparked mixed reactions among fans. Some expressed their dissatisfaction with the altered scene, while others were grateful for the intervention. Mushoku Tensei tackles challenging themes, and Darius' disturbing interest in underage individuals is nothing short of horrific. Many fans would prefer to never see the character again, but it appears that Mushoku Tensei has set up future story arcs involving this antagonist.

If you haven't caught up with Mushoku Tensei before diving into season two, the anime is now available for streaming on Crunchyroll. You can watch all of season one there. Additionally, if you prefer reading, the English version of the Mushoku Tensei light novel is published by Seven Seas.
