Reportedly (and regrettably), Cartoon Network Studios is set to close its iconic headquarters in August, as the studio's teams merge with Warner Bros. Animation. Established in Burbank, CA in 2000, Cartoon Network Studios has been the creative hub behind numerous beloved shows in Cartoon Network's history, including Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and many more. This development follows Warner Bros. Discovery's announcement last year of merging Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios into a single division.
Although the official confirmation of Cartoon Network Studios' closure has not been made, former general manager Brian Miller took to Twitter to inform fans about the notice given to vacate the Cartoon Network Studios building by August 1st. He expressed his sadness, stating, "Sadly, this building will no longer be CNS. From what I've been told, everyone will be out by August 1. All moving together in a WB building as one animation unit. Farewell CNS as it was." Craig McCracken, the creator of The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, also commented on the news:
When CN told us they were opening their own studio they asked Genndy and I to help pick the building and make design suggestions on what we wanted for the interior work spaces. So I can honestly say this is place I felt I helped build. It’s sad to see it go. https://t.co/6TeaJAnMiS

Is Cartoon Network Studios Shutting Down?
"When CN informed us that they were establishing their own studio, they asked [Unicorn: Warriors Eternal and Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky] and me to assist in selecting the building and provide input on the interior design of the workspaces. So I can genuinely say that this is a place where I felt I played a role in its creation. It's disheartening to see it go," shared McCracken with his fans on Twitter. Undoubtedly, the closure of Cartoon Network Studios has had a significant impact on those who closely collaborated within its walls, as well as on the fans who have been inspired by the studio's projects over the past two decades.
With Cartoon Network Studios merging with Warner Bros. Animation, the full implications for the future projects from the staff involved have yet to be fully revealed. Warner Bros. Discovery has expressed their emphasis on animated content, particularly from Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, going forward. However, the closure of such a prominent studio still feels like a loss.
