As part of the Ubisoft Forward event, a brand-new trailer was unveiled, showcasing glimpses of creator Adi Shankar's unique interpretation of the Far Cry universe in Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. The latest footage revealed that Shankar is ingeniously incorporating unexpected Ubisoft franchises such as Assassin's Creed and Rabbids into the mix. While the series has yet to announce its release date on Netflix, Shankar delved into details about the upcoming anime series during an interview with Ubisoft.
Shankar commenced the interview by providing further insight into the captivating world of Captain Laserhawk and offering a breakdown of the challenges that protagonist Dolph Laserhawk must navigate. "Eden is a megacorporation that has taken over North America. In this alternate timeline, automation got introduced in the 1950s, created immediate mass unemployment and then the largest tech company at the time, Eden, introduced Universal Basic Income to pull the population out of poverty. Eden's like, everyone just gets paid a weekly credit because you're a citizen of Eden, and as a result everyone's really happy. It starts feeling like a utopia. Then a few years go by, and then Eden's like, "Oh, hey, your credits are worth double if you use them in our stores, triple if they're used on Eden products." Eden quickly devolves into a dystopian social credit propaganda surveillance state."

Shankar proceeded to delve deeper into the character of Dolph in the upcoming anime, shedding light on his personality. He explained, "Dolph is a character who is in search of his own identity. He yearns to discover who he truly is. On the surface, he portrays the image of a stoic action hero with extraordinary abilities, a rebellious man constantly on the run. However, beneath that exterior, he is utterly confused. He grapples with an identity crisis, often becoming a reflection of those he encounters, unconsciously assimilating their traits. Thus, Dolph embodies the contrast of an immensely powerful and self-assured individual in terms of physical prowess, while remaining emotionally stunted, haunted by past wounds."
In the newly released trailer, viewers catch a glimpse of a bullfrog character who intriguingly belongs to the Assassin's Guild from the renowned Assassin's Creed franchise. Adi Shankar enthusiastically explained his choice to incorporate one of Ubisoft's flagship franchises into the anime, stating, "I hold a deep admiration for the intricacies of the Assassin's Creed lore. It delves into profound philosophical depths, and like all exceptional art, it carries essential nuggets of truth within it. Good art embodies truth. From my perspective, the Assassin's Creed lore contains undeniable truths, and it resonates as a profoundly significant narrative."
